Thing 11: Tagging and Del.icio.us:

It looks like tagging will be a lot easier and more flexible than keeping information in folders and will be great for organizing and finding personal imformation. It's also possible to view bookmarks added by similar-minded users that may be of interest to you. Use of Del.icio.us is free and most likely one of the most popular to use. Social networking at its best!

At first, I was hesitant about everyone being able to view anything posted but then read that a user can mark specific bookmarks as private collections. I enjoyed looking over the list of the most popular tags.

Thing 10: Wikis:

This is a very different place! Anyone can contribute, change, and add to a wiki. Most websites can only be read. With their knowledge-sharing tools, Wikis are great for libraries. The Library is a collection of organized information, resources and services. With the collection of media other than books for storing information, libraries now offer access points for maps, prints, and other documents on various storage media. Wikis are easy to use, are web based and great for group projects. Wikis are full of potentital, and are free and open publishing systems. Everyone is encouraged to share information in their areas of interest and expertise.

I experimented with editing the 23 Things on a Stick Wiki.

Thing 9: Online Collaboration Tools:

Zoho has great products and offers a free and simplified version that gives you much of the power of major league applications. Most small projects can be managed without professional grade tools. These tools are often expensive and complicated.

Zoho is packed with useful surprises....a playground of productivity where you can pick and choose what you like. Zoho Writer and Google Docs will make life so much easier and more organized.

Permission is needed to edit the documents in Thing 9, however.
Thing 8: Share your Creations:

This site is a great educational and useful resource especially for people who have a real "know-how" of programming. So many fun things to do, share and one can really "accessorize" photos. I wish I had more time to really get into this today.

I've been trying most of the day to get into Lazybase. All I get is an error page stating that this page cannot be displayed. I'll keep trying as I want to design and create databases and manage all sorts of tidbits of info.........both useful and useless!

Thing 7: Web 2.0 Communication Tools:

Technology ever changes and offers fast and easy ways to communicate and stay connected. Many of our patrons at the Library have supplied us with their email addresses for communication which saves us the time of calling on the phone, leaving messages and waiting for a return call.

Last summer I was part of a Google group dealing with my 2 granddaughter's softball games. This was so much faster than waiting for a phone call and I felt "in the know"!

I actually registeered with WebJunction several months ago. I really enjoy the sharing of ideas and resources. There is so much information!

I also found it interesting to learn how cell phones actually work!

Thing 6: Online Image Generators:

I created a trading card for practice. I would enjoy making calendars and will try that when time permits. Right now I'm not working with personal photos......just dealing with web pics of the seasons! I think the possibilites are endless with the trading cards as a way to reach patrons of the Library. Again, very addictive and a lot of fun.
Thing 4: Photosharing with Flickr:

This is the best photo sharing and organization application ever! I made lists and ran articles to learn it all! There are so many interesting sites to investigate but time is short while at work. However, this could be very addicting and is fun, fun, fun! I'm not sure I'd want to share personal family photos with the world, though. Family, friends and groups are okay but everyone?!

I have a camera phone and I'll try uploading pics to my yahoo account. I experimented with Blogger's photo upload to upload my favorite picture of a sunset and added it to my blog.

Thing 5: More Flickr Fun:

This was really fun and interesting to see all the ways to find, organize and use photos in differrent ways. I looked through Clockr, Flikr Color Pickr, Big Huge Labs, Spelling with Flikr, creating puzzles, maps, magazines covers, making badges, etc. I especially liked using maps for locations of pictures and making jigsaw puzzles. Share-It for Flickr is really cool !!

I liked the idea of creating posters to promote upcoming events at the Library another great tool and one that I will be using.
